Indian call centres using VPN’s and a phone number site to mask the identity. If they call you, do not answer, and report number straight away. We might not be able to eradicate all scammers, but the more numbers that are blocked not just nationally, but internationally, the harder it gets for them.

No response when I answered and then the call was disconnected by the caller. I suspect this was a scam call. I note that someone else says it's Sky. I think Sky's number of one digit different.

Claimed to be from O2 (network provider) offering a "big discount" from my bill. The scammer generated password reset text messages for my online account and told me to completely ignore the ***SECURITY WARNING*** message that O2 has in place. This is a scam, these people are not from O2 and, as soon as I asked them to confirm who they were speaking to she terminated the call. This scam is designed to gain access to your mobile account to give scammers access to your 2 factor authentication methods. If you receive this call on a UK mobile, report this number to 7726, it's the fraud

A foreign-sounding individual called asking for "Chen" or something like that, "regarding your loan application - you've been approved for £500". Demanded to know MY name when I said it was wrong, and not to call again. My number is TPS registered. I would say it's likely to lead to FRAUD if you continue the conversation.

Receive most of the spam calls all in one day, in the morning waking me up, anywhere from 30 mins to 1 hr in between. I cannot put my phone on silent as I am on call with my employer. In the past, I have expressed "I am not interested" and also requested to be taken off their calling list - to no avail. I believe this call is from a realtor company or sweepstakes company. Lately, when I try to answer and wait patiently for someone to speak, no one responds. The incoming number constantly changes. I regret sharing my number. Been getting these calls on a regular basis for about 2 months now

Beware of missed call scams

Occasionally, your phone may ring once and then stop. If this happens and you don’t recognize the number, do not call it back. You may be targeted by a “missed call” scam.

With illegal robocallers, the intention is not always to make you answer the call. Sometimes, their goal is to make you call back.

Missed call scams often use landline numbers in countries like the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, or international numbers. In more sophisticated cases, they may use numbers from India, the United States, or other countries, or they might use numbers that closely resemble legitimate ones to create credibility.

If it’s not a missed call, scammers may appear as fake voicemail messages, urging you to call a number with an unfamiliar area code to “claim a reward” or inform you about a sick relative, or they may request you to transfer money to retain a prize.

If you call back any such number, you are likely to incur connection charges, at the very least according to your network’s tariff, or even higher charges for premium service hotlines. These charges may appear on your bill as additional services.

These scam techniques, although old, still manage to deceive many people. Therefore, you should remain vigilant with calls from unknown numbers or calls claiming you have won a prize, and never call back or transfer money to unfamiliar numbers.

Which countries does scammerphonenumber.com support to look up numbers?

We currently support number lookups and phone number reporting in all of the following countries:

  • Switzerland…..

How to avoid scam phone numbers

Do not answer or call back any calls from numbers you don’t recognize, especially landline numbers.

Before calling unfamiliar numbers, check if the area code indicates an international call.

If you do not make international calls, ask your phone company or network provider to block outgoing international calls.

Always remain cautious, even if a phone number appears to be genuine.
